What Oravo does with your words

Short version: your dictation is transcribed on your Mac and stays there. We don't run analytics, and we never receive your text.

Who we are

Oravo is made by Oosan Studios (“we”, “us”). You can reach a human at hello@oravo.app. This policy covers the Oravo app for macOS and the oravo.app website.

What stays on your Mac

Speech recognition runs locally, using a model downloaded to your Mac. Your voice is processed in memory and is never written to disk and never uploaded. These files live in your own Application Support folder and are never transmitted to us:

API keys you add are stored in the macOS Keychain, not in a file we control.

The only times Oravo connects to the internet

Oravo makes no background calls beyond these, and each is listed in the app's Privacy panel as it happens:

AI features and your own API key

Oravo's AI features — cleanup and restyle, Ask AI, and translation — do not run on our servers. They run on your account with the AI provider you choose, using an API key you supply.

When you use one, the text involved (your dictation, or the text you selected) is sent directly from your Mac to that provider — Anthropic, OpenAI, xAI, or Perplexity, depending on which you configured. It does not pass through us, and we never see it. That provider's own privacy policy and data-retention terms govern what happens to it, so it's worth reading theirs.

If you'd rather nothing leave your Mac at all, Oravo also supports Ollama, which runs a model locally with no key and no network.

Local-Only mode

Turning on Local-Only in the Privacy panel stops all outbound requests — including license checks. AI features are unavailable while it's on. That's the point.

What we collect

Nothing automatically. Oravo contains no analytics, no telemetry, no crash reporting, and no advertising or tracking code. The website sets no cookies and uses no analytics either.

We only hold personal information you hand us directly:

Purchases

Payments are handled by Lemon Squeezy, which acts as the merchant of record — they are the seller, and they process the payment and any tax. Your card details go to them, never to us; we never see or store them. We receive the order record: your email address, what you bought, and your license key. Lemon Squeezy's privacy policy governs their handling of your payment data.

Deleting your data

Because it's on your Mac, you control it directly:

To have us delete support correspondence or ask what we hold about you, email hello@oravo.app. Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, export, or delete personal data we hold, and to complain to your local data-protection authority. We'll honor those requests regardless of where you live.

Children

Oravo isn't directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their personal information.

Changes

If this policy changes in a way that matters, we'll update the date above and note the change in the app's release notes. We won't quietly start collecting something this page says we don't.
